About
The Khalifah and Rukkaiya Foundation for the Aged and Senior Citizens’ Welfare is a non-profit organization dedicated to restoring dignity, ensuring well-being, and promoting the inclusion of elderly citizens across Nigeria. Founded from a deeply personal experience of caring for aged royal parents, the Foundation was established to address the growing neglect and vulnerability experienced by senior citizens, particularly in underserved communities.
Our mission is to empower senior citizens by providing access to essential services, including healthcare, nutrition, housing support, companionship, and sustainable livelihoods. Through our programs—ranging from medical outreach and drug distribution to cottage industry job creation and advocacy—we aim to uplift the aged population and ensure their final years are lived with purpose, peace, and pride.
At the heart of our work is a commitment to social justice and human dignity. We believe that those who helped build our communities should not be forgotten but honored, protected, and cared for in return.
Objectives
Conduct periodic medical outreaches and health screening for senior citizens nationwide.
Establish well-equipped care centers and old people’s homes across Nigerian states.
Provide food, medicine, and basic amenities to aged individuals in both rural and urban communities.
Set up cottage industries (like mat weaving and small-scale production units) to generate employment and income for women and caregivers.
Develop skill acquisition and empowerment programs for youths and widows to foster economic independence.
Collaborate with government agencies, NGOs, and private organizations to promote policies that prioritize the welfare of the aged.
Offer psychosocial counseling, legal aid, and social protection services for neglected and abandoned elders.
Launch nationwide campaigns to raise awareness on elder care, social responsibility, and intergenerational respect.
Organizational Philosophy
Our philosophy is rooted in three core beliefs:
1. Dignity is Non-Negotiable
Every elderly person, regardless of background or economic status, deserves to live their later years with respect, comfort, and support. We champion a society where aging is not a burden but a stage of life celebrated and embraced.
2. Empowerment Over Pity
We do not believe in charity without purpose. Our approach is to empower, not enable—by creating opportunities for the elderly and those who care for them, particularly women in rural communities. Whether through income-generating projects, health education, or access to social support, we focus on solutions that restore independence and confidence.
3. Community-Led, Compassion-Driven
Our work is people-first. We engage communities, listen to their realities, and co-create programs that reflect their needs. Compassion is not a slogan for us—it is the guiding principle in how we serve, lead, and grow.
